C. F. Wewer — Old Mine-Cut Diamond Dormeuse Earrings, c. 1915–1932
An exquisite pair of antique diamond dormeuse earrings by C. F. Wewer of Schoonhoven, the Netherlands, dating from circa 1915–1932.
Crafted in 14ct yellow gold and silver, each earring features a beautifully proportioned old mine-cut diamond, complemented by a smaller antique-cut diamond, with an estimated total diamond weight of approximately 2.00 carats.
Their softly patinated silver settings and warm gold fittings lend the pair the unmistakable charm of early twentieth-century jewellery. Bearing the maker’s mark of C. F. Wewer, the earrings are accompanied by a charming Jugendstil jewellery case, circa 1900, inscribed for Martin Meyer, a jeweller in Altona.
Measuring 15.2 × 8.2 mm and weighing just 2.4 g in total, they combine delicate proportions, beautiful antique diamonds and a particularly appealing history. Preserved in good overall condition, with a natural patina consistent with age.
