A diamond-set heart pendant by Van Cleef & Arpels, crafted in 18K gold and platinum.
The pendant bears the French eagle’s-head hallmark for 18K gold and the dog’s-head hallmark for platinum. It is signed V.C.A. in block capitals and individually numbered by hand.
Of particular interest is the partially preserved maker’s mark attributed to the workshop of Jean-Thierry Bondt, the Parisian orfèvre responsible for the execution of the piece.
While the V.C.A. signature identifies the maison, the maker’s mark records the specialist workshop entrusted with its manufacture—an important detail in understanding the craftsmanship and production history of signed French jewellery.
